The density of aluminum is 2.7 × 10³ kg/m³. Aluminum sheet is a sheet with a thickness of at least 0.2 mm, a width exceeding 200 mm, and a length not exceeding 16 m. Aluminum sheet with a thickness less than 0.2 mm is usually called bar or strip. Aluminum sheet is a rectangular sheet produced by rolling and includes pure aluminum sheet, alloy aluminum sheet, thin aluminum sheet, medium-thick aluminum sheet, and patterned aluminum sheet.
The oxide film of aluminum and its alloys is porous and has good adsorption capacity, making it suitable as a base layer for spray painting. Anodized phosphoric acid films can also serve as a base layer for electroplating on aluminum. Aluminum oxide films have high electrical resistance, and the film thickness is proportional to the resistance, which gives them a certain degree of electrical insulation. For example, they can be used as the dielectric of capacitors or as the outer sheath of cables. When the film is 27.5 μm thick, its breakdown voltage can reach 441 V. Filling with phenolic resin can double the breakdown voltage. In an oxalic acid solution, as the film thickness increases, a high-quality insulating layer with a resistance of 200Ω and a breakdown voltage of 980V can be obtained.
The weight of aluminum rods, tubes, and sheets can be calculated using the following formula:
- Aluminum sheet weight (kg) = 0.0000028 × thickness × width × length
- Aluminum tube weight (kg) = 0.00879 × wall thickness × (outer diameter - wall thickness) × length
- Aluminum rod weight (kg) = diameter × diameter × length × 0.0000022
Brushed aluminum sheet is manufactured by a process where lines are scraped with sandpaper. The main steps include degreasing, sanding, and water washing. Aluminum oxide sheet is anodized in an electrolyte to form a thin aluminum oxide layer with a thickness of 5 to 20 microns. Hard anodized films can reach a thickness of 60 to 200 microns.
PS aluminum sheet (advertising aluminum sheet or printed zinc sheet) refers to aluminum sheet with a printed pattern on the back and a thickness of 0.25 or 0.3 mm. Mirror aluminum sheets are aluminum sheets that have been rolled and polished to create a mirror-like surface. Embossed aluminum sheets are aluminum sheets with various patterns stamped onto their surface and are widely used in packaging, construction, curtain walls, and other fields.
