I. Aluminum Sheet Weight Calculation Formula Revealed
Want to know how much aluminum sheet weighs? It's actually very simple. Remember this universal formula: Weight (kg) = Length (m) × Width (m) × Thickness (mm) × Density (g/cm³) × 0.001.
For example, a 2-meter-long, 1-meter-wide, 5-mm-thick ordinary aluminum sheet (density 2.7 g/cm³) weighs 2 × 1 × 5 × 2.7 × 0.001 = 0.027 kg.
II. The Special Features of 5052 Aluminum Sheet
5052 aluminum sheet, a commonly used type, has a density of 2.68 g/cm³ (Source: "GB/T 3190-2020 Chemical Composition of Wrought Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys"). It's slightly lighter than ordinary aluminum sheet, but stronger.
To calculate, simply replace the density with 2.68. For example, for 5052 aluminum sheet of the same dimensions: 2 x 1 x 5 x 2.68 x 0.001 = 0.0268 kg.
III. Practical Application Tips
Unit Consistency: Pay attention to converting millimeters to meters and maintain consistent density units.
Dimension Measurement: It is recommended to use a vernier caliper for actual measurements; ordinary tape measures may have an error of up to 1 mm.
Density Confirmation: Different types of aluminum sheet have different densities, 5052 being a typical example.
Our store currently stocks some practical aluminum sheet materials with thicknesses ranging from 0.2 mm to 1.0 mm, standard widths of 1000 mm or 1200 mm, and roll lengths of 30 or 50 meters. With a density of 2.71 g/cm³, they are suitable for a variety of DIY and industrial applications.
